ReplyDeleteI really like how you guys are going to incorporate a prop from a popular existing thriller film, but I'm also interested as to how you're going to make it your own. It could get confusing if you don't clearly show that there is no relation between your film and the existing. Saying that, I totally love your opening and the ideas you have fit the conventions to a T. Your storyboards look really professional and I'm really looking forward to the end product!!
ReplyDeleteIn your presentation you talked about how you were going to use the mask from V for Vendetta. Make sure you do a post on your blog about why you want to use this film. Maybe do some textual analysis of V for Vendetta so that the examiner knows that you are doing a homage not just copying. If you are unsure about which gender for one of your characters do a survey and find out what your target audience would like. I was still a bit confused about your storyline at the end of your presentation. Maybe do post where you clearly spell it out as it was too hard for me to work out if it is too complex for the time you have. Often a simple idea done well is better that a complex idea done badly. I like the fact that you are planning on doing your own music but this does mean that you need to allow sufficient time for this which is something I think you could be challenged by...
ReplyDeleteName your characters - even if it is just to make the narrative clearer. You have some interesting ideas about light but you will need to test them first as poor light = poor film quality. Play with the low lux setting and exposure on the school cameras and try to plan how you could use spot lights - desk lamps, big torchs, car lights etc.
I like the idea of the mask making the character seem to have something to hide. I also like the confusion with character B. The idea of character C crying over a grave may not show that she has a troubled past however. Perhaps a flashback to the event? The detail of the storyboard is simply great. 'Time's up' is an amazing line and the watch dropping to the ground will add a huge amount of suspense and mystery.
ReplyDeleteI love your storyboard; it's brilliant!! I also like the idea of using props which play an important role in your opening.
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit confusing at the moment, but I think it is just the fact that you have so many characters without names (I got a bit confused on who's who),but a suggestion might be just to name your characters after the actors to stop confusion; you probably won't even need to mention their names in the opening.
Another suggestion is to get a good actress for your female character if she is crying, because there is nothing worst than having a rubbish fake crier; it just loses the effect you want.
You have thought out pretty much everything, from techniques to even a memorable phrase for your opening. The narrative is good, and I hope it turns out well when you come to produce it :)
